about this site:

Being a biotechnology company at the leading edge of the genetic field, PRO-DNA Diagnostic was the first Canadian laboratory to offer the buccal swab sampling kit in 1997. Since then, our sampling kits have been sent everywhere in the world and have been used by thousands of individuals without any complication.

The buccal swab is performed using a brush (swab) with an ejectable head. Each swab can only be used on a specific participant. New swabs will be used in order to obtain the samples of the other participants.

Since DNA is contained within every living cell of our body, it is therefore possible to extract each participants’ DNA from the previously collected saliva cells, and then, perform the requested genetic analysis.

Our sampling kit contains all the material and instructions necessary for the completion of the DNA test: an introduction letter describing the content of the kit, the buccal swabs, the consent forms, a pre-addressed return envelope as well as a form confirming the address(es) of the individuals who will receive the results. Finally, you will also find the following procedure concerning the utilization of the buccal swab sampling kit:

1-Each envelope must be identified with the participants' names on the self-adhesive paper.
2-Retrieve the buccal swab from its packaging (do not touch the ejectable head with your fingers).
3-Slowly rub inside of each cheeks.
4-Rub the inside of the right cheek for about 10 seconds with the swab head then repeat on the left cheek. Ensure that the swab is moist with saliva. THE SWAB MUST KEEP ITS FORM AND NOT BE TOO WET.
5-Eject the buccal swab head in the pre-identified envelope (do not touch the ejectable head with your fingers).
6-Close the envelopes.
7-Insert the envelopes in the sampling kit and seal the envelope.
8-Keep the samples at room temperature.
