about this site:

DNA analysis provides a clear unequivocal answer. If the presumed father is in fact the biological father, the paternity test will be confirmed with a minimum probability of 99.95%. If the presumed father is not the biological father, the probability of paternity will be 0%.

Paternity testing is based on the fact that everyone inherits half of his or her genetic material (DNA) from his or her mother and the other half from his or her father. Through analysis of the DNA of the child's mother and father, it is possible to identify the maternal traits present in the child, and then to verify whether the remaining traits are found in the presumed father. If the latter does not have the traits that the child must have inherited from his or her biological father, then paternity is excluded. If the presumed father does have these traits, then the paternity is statistically established.

It is possible to perform paternity tests without samples from the mother, provided that our consent policies are respected.

PRO-DNA Diagnostic is also qualified to perform both prenatal and post-mortem paternity testing.

Our laboratory offers customers two paternity test options: the Paternity test for legal purposes, which will meet the needs of customers who believe that the test result may eventually be used in a legal context, or the Paternity test — at-home sampling, for customers who are simply looking for peace of mind but who do not need the results of the DNA analysis for legal purposes.

Sampling and Specifications
The DNA test is performed on a buccal swab sample. This simple, painless type of sampling procedure yields results that are as reliable as blood sampling results. Moreover, it can be performed as easily on a newborn or child as on an adult.

For customers wishing to undergo the Paternity test for legal purposes, our laboratory takes charge of coordinating appointments with one of our sampling centres in your community. Customers are asked to present several pieces of photo ID at their appointments.

For customers wishing to undergo the Paternity test — at-home sampling, upon receipt of payment, our laboratory will send you a sampling kit together with instructions and a return envelope. The package will also include consent forms to be completed and signed by the test participants and, if applicable, by the legal guardian of any participants who are minors. Before performing the test, our laboratory will verify each person's consent by telephone.

The results are released within 10 working days following the laboratory's receipt of the samples.

Payment Procedures
Our laboratory accepts Visa and MasterCard credit cards, as well as debit cards, certified cheques, postal money orders and cash.

In certain situations, the costs of paternity tests may be borne by the Legal Aid office in your community. You may contact our laboratory to find out the address of your local Legal Aid office.
