About this site
How DNA became evidence: the method, the record, and the limits of a profile.
proadn.com is a reference site about one technique and its history: how variation in repeated sequences of DNA came to be read as identification, how the reading was industrialised, and what a profile does and does not establish.
It is organised as a register. Every entry covers a single thing — a technique, a database, an instrument, a standards body, a documented outcome — and every entry states plainly what that thing can carry and what it cannot. The six sections are The Method, The Limits, The Record, The Registers, The Instruments and Standards. The full list is on the register index.
What is not here
This site does not test anything and does not arrange testing. There is no laboratory behind it, no kit to order and no service to book. It carries no medical or health material of any kind, nothing about consumer testing, ancestry or family relationships, and no legal advice. Where a real case is named it is because that case is the landmark, and only the documented outcome is stated.
Where a method is disputed
Several of the techniques described here are the subject of live scientific argument, particularly the interpretation of complex mixtures. Where that is the case the entry names who takes which position, on both sides, and links to their published work.
